Besides working as a 1st AC, I recently took on some different roles while creating a special personal project together with an amazing team.
Libertà is a Dutch short drama directed by Dapper Bruijn and co-written by Raoul Karadag. The story was inspired by my own grandmother’s story. Taking on both Production Management and the of Director of Photography allowed me to stay close to the heart of the story. Libertà is a tribute to her life and to everyone touched by the reality of Alzheimer’s.
Libertà (2025) — Short Film
All her life, she has been a free-spirited and headstrong woman, determined to live on her own terms. But when Alzheimer’s begins to take hold, her fierce independence collides with a new and unsettling reality. The illness not only strains her bond with her daughter — who struggles to balance care with respect for her mother’s autonomy — but also forces her into a battle within herself, between the strong-willed identity she has always known and the confusion that now clouds her mind.
This film portrays an intimate journey of love, resistance, and loss, asking whether the essence of a free spirit can survive when confronted with a disease that unravels memory, relationships, and ultimately, the self.
